Art, education, and a wholesome lifestyle!

Meet New Philadelphia resident, Aubrey Gealsha. She takes advantage of all Tuscarawas County has to offer. Aubrey is a local artist, a graphic art teacher at Buckeye Career Center, and a certified yoga instructor at multiple studios. She believes our community has something here for people of all backgrounds. The expanding art community has given many artists opportunity for growth. A quality education is easy to obtain in Tuscarawas County and there are career opportunities to use that education, too. She's excited for her new role at Buckeye Career Center, "I went to school at Buckeye, and I thought it completely changed me as a kid. I got more confident and my grades went up. I'm really excited that maybe I can do that to students," Aubrey shares.

Need for Speed! A Hometown Legacy of Racing

“It’s basically been my life and my go-to about everything,” Brandon said. “My grandparents bought it in the 80s, my dad took it over in the 2000s and I have since taken it over this year.”

Adkins Raceway hosts the competitive Indian Valley Kart Club races every other week in Port Washington, Ohio.  The raceway has been the only go-kart facility in Tuscarawas County since 1962 when it was built by the World Karting Association founder, George Kugler. In 1982 the Adkins family became owners of the six-turn track that was home to several national competitions. Today, they offer services for everyone to get-in on the fun including 45mph rental karts and arrive-and-drive packages.

From Urban to Rural! Seth and Lyndsey Teter embrace small-town life at Six Buckets Farm… "Our move to Tuscarawas County was about more than bringing new life to an old family farm. It was about the sense of purpose and place we found. Like much of Appalachia, this county demonstrates both a spirit of self-reliance and the bonds of community. It remembers its history as it presses ahead. Those same values drive our daily work on the farm. It’s rarely easy, but it’s never without meaning. That’s why we continue to work toward our goal of connecting others with delicious food from this beautiful landscape.  And we couldn’t imagine a better place to call home."
